Although drives with rotational speed of 10,000 rpm are also available, but such disks are commonly used by large businesses. For general use, spindle speed of 7,200 rpm is good enough.
Platter count - 1TB hard drive internal typically has 6 to 10 heads. Two heads, put together, form one platter. Thus, if the hard disk has 8 heads, it means that platter count is 4. The head or platter count can be ascertained from the data sheet of the disk.
Interface - 1TB hard drive internal generally uses SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) interface. Older hard disks used PATA (Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment) interface. Seek rate - It is the speed at which the drive is able to retrieve a particular piece of data. The average seek rate of 1TB hard drive internal is 12 milliseconds. However, disks with seek rate of 9 milliseconds are also easily available. You can select anyone of them depending upon your needs.
Cost and warranty - It is advisable to buy a branded 1TB hard drive internal. You will be able to get a high quality disk at a reasonable price. Moreover, warranty will also not be an issue of concern.
